Walled city of Villefranche de Conflent

Classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site, five minutes from the campsite and ranked among the most beautiful villages in France, the medieval town of Villefranche de Conflent welcomes you within its ramparts full of history.

The colour of the buildings strikes you immediately upon arrival, the pink marble used by the builders gives the village its unique glow. The impressive fortifications that can be admired today have been improved over the centuries, most notably by Vauban (17th century).

Fort Libéria is also his work, and although it is appreciated today for its beauty, it was vital in its defensive role.

The departure station of the region's true emblem, embark on an unusual journey aboard the yellow train that has been criss-crossing the heights of the Pyrenees-Orientales for a century on a route with more than a thousand metres of difference in altitude.
